Job Summary
CNA and its subsidiaries maintain a $45 billion investment portfolio primarily comprised of fixed income securities. This position is for a key contributor to the Investments Financial Planning & Analysis team within Investments & Treasury.
This technical area performs critical financial analysis, including performance and valuation analysis, on our investment portfolio while exercising considerable latitude in approach and analysis. This position reports to the Financial Analysis Director and oversees the operations of our private equity and private placement debt portfolios to ensure we are meeting our obligations to our partners. The Senior Financial Analyst will also lead projects and own key team objectives as required by the organization's business needs. Additionally, the role provides opportunities to collaborate across business units and utilize new technologies, as we strive to continually enhance and improve processes.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
1. Focus on limited partnership investments including fund administration, coordinating cash movements, quantitative analysis, accounting support and reporting as well as ad hoc projects.
2. Support investment portfolio analytics function by actively participating in quantitative analysis, stress scenario modeling, securities valuation, cash flow forecasting and investment risk monitoring
3. Participates in defining the issues and scope of assigned projects; suggests approach and methodology and enhances analysis where applicable.
4. Proactively investigates anomalies and variances in data.
5. Prepares and presents interpretations of findings for leadership within Investments & Treasury Division and broader corporate partners.
6. May participate in the development and implementation of financial strategies or tactics.
7. Interacts and coordinates with other departments to address business issues and meet organizational objectives.
8. Enhance processes and models where applicable.
9. Partner across CNA Finance Department on investment-related initiatives

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
1. Strong knowledge of capital markets, fixed income securities and quantitative investment methods. Demonstrated ability to apply think critically and apply analytical approach to investment data sets.
2. Learning agility and ability to articulate perspective on analytical output.
3. Excellent project management, organizing and planning skills with proven ability to manage competing priorities and execute deliverables in a timely fashion.
4. Strong analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to effectively resolve issues of a complex nature.
5. Strong interpersonal, presentation, verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with internal and external business partners.
6. Very strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and other business-related software systems.
Education & Experience
1. Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or Business
2. Typically three to five years of related financial analysis experience
3. Pursuit of CFA designation a plus

I n certain jurisdictions, CNA is legally required to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation for this role. In District of Columbia , California, Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois , Maryland , Massachusetts , New York and Washington, the national base pay range for this job level is $54,000 to $103,000 annually.Salary determinations are based on various factors, including but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and location.
