Job Description

We are seeking a seasoned Senior General Liability Claims Analyst to join our in-house Legal department. This role is responsible for independently managing and adjusting a wide range of general liability claims, including customer injury, property damage, and product liability matters. The ideal candidate will bring deep claims handling expertise, a customer-centric approach, and a collaborative mindset to work cross-functionally with internal teams and external stakeholders.

A day in the life…

  • The ideal Sr. GL Claims Analyst is motivated, results-oriented and committed to providing outstanding customer service every day in a self-insured and self-administered claims environment. 
  • Responsible for all aspects of claim handling including customer service, investigation, evaluation, negotiation, and administration. 
  • Provides support for attorney-represented pre-litigation claims.
  • Assists with other claims-related support, investigations, regulatory matters, subpoenas, discovery, and invoicing.

You own this if you have…

  • Minimum of 7+ years of experience as a general liability claims analyst/examiner
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience working in customer service
  • Knowledge of tort, contract/indemnity and insurance issues, as well as medical and legal terminology
  • Prior experience with self-insured, self-administered employer preferred
  • Strong computer skills with general understanding of Microsoft Office and Outlook, and other Risk Management or claims or legal document management systems
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Understanding of retail and the service environment of Nordstrom
  • Ability to take responsibility and exercise good judgment consistent with Nordstrom’s high ethical standards
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and establish working relationships with colleagues
  • Excellent time-management skills, ability to manage a high-volume case load and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Proven analytical and organizational skills with robust attention to detail
  • Strong Professional, trustworthy, and reliable
  • Ability to handle confidential information with respect and integrity
  • Expert in working in a team environment and independently
  • investigation skills
