JOB DESCRIPTION
The Senior Manager, Event Content Strategy, plays a pivotal role in shaping the content direction and strategy for our events. This position requires a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of event content trends, audience preferences, and industry best practices. The Senior Manager will lead a team responsible for developing compelling content, ensuring the on-time delivery of high-quality and immersive brand experiences and drives engagement with guests. This role advises commercial and enterprise organization teams on the interpretation of and compliance with bylaws and various policies and procedures. Demonstrated ability to communicate with influence, build alignment and deliver results in a highly matrixed organization to meet both business and executive stakeholder needs. Success requires focus on event experiences and delivering a cohesive brand journey across all event touchpoints.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work closely with Performance Marketing team members to identify event improvement processes and efficient use of resources and appropriate presentation and use of corporate assets and brand throughout event experiences.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive content strategy for all events, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and audience needs.
  • Work closely with content creators, including writers, designers, and multimedia specialists, to produce high-quality event content such as keynotes, presentations, panels, workshops, and interactive and digital experiences.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitor strategies to continuously innovate and enhance event content offerings.
  • Oversee the event content creation process from ideation to execution, ensuring content is delivered on time, within budget, and meets quality standards.
  • Analyze post-event feedback, attendee engagement metrics, and other performance indicators to measure the effectiveness of content strategies and enterprise event experiences and identify areas for improvement.
  • Cultivate relationships with industry influencers, thought leaders, and subject matter experts to secure speakers and enhance the credibility of event content.
  • Work collaboratively with key stakeholders across Commercial Excellence, Legal, Conformity Assessment, Corporate Comms, IT, UL Research Institute and UL Standards and Engagement and others to identify content themes, topics, and formats that resonate with target audiences.
  • Assist in managing the department's budget and freelance resources.
  • Maintains very thorough knowledge of UL's corporate by-laws, policies and procedures and committee mandates.
  • Manage the performance of direct or indirect reports by defining accountabilities, establishing performance objectives, providing feedback and guidance, and ensuring that all policies are understood and adhered to.
  • Establish, develop and maintain scalable processes within the department that guarantee best practices.
  • Provide guidance, coaching, and mentorship to direct reports to enhance their skills and capabilities fostering a culture of creativity, collaboration, and continuous learning.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the performance of creative, and marketing channels. Provide regular reports and insights to senior management.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • University degree (equivalent to bachelor's degree) in Business, Marketing or a related disciplines plus generally 8 years' experience in global commercial leadership
  • 12+ years of experience in content strategy, event programming, or related roles, preferably in the events industry.
  • Proven track record of developing and executing successful content strategies for large-scale events or conferences.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing teams and driving cross-functional collaboration.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate vision, influence stakeholders, and present ideas effectively.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to analyze data, identify insights, and translate them into actionable event content recommendations.
  • Creative mindset with a passion for storytelling and creating memorable event experiences.
  • Proficiency in project management tools, content management systems, and analytics platforms.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Budget management, negotiation, and financial analysis skills
  • Expert management abilities to guide direct reports and matrixed resources
