We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Product Designer to join the Genomics Design Team at Tempus. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in user interface and user experience design, with a proven track record of creating intuitive and visually appealing digital products. Experience in healthcare, process optimization and/or with AI / conversational design is a plus. As a Senior Product Designer, you will be responsible for leading the design process from concept to completion, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring that our products meet the highest standards of customer needs, usability and aesthetics.
About This Role
This role will work on the internal tools used to process and track samples in our labs and create and validate the reports we deliver to physicians. They will work closely with product managers, engineers, and scientific subject matter experts to define the scope and deliver impactful solutions.
ResponsibilitiesDesign Leadership
- Design elegant, user-centric experiences.
- Lead user-centered design process for new and existing products.
- Understand medical and technical contexts to lead design on complex backend systems.
- Educate cross-disciplinary stakeholders on the value of design.
Discovery Research and Synthesis
- Conduct user research to gather insights and inform design decisions.
- Create frameworks like user flows, journey maps, service blueprints, and personas to map processes, identify problem areas, and uncover opportunities.
UI/UX Design
- Create wireframes, low- and high-fidelity mockups, and clickable prototypes to effectively communicate design concepts and interactions.
- Define visual and interactive consistency across products and refine and maintain related design systems and style guides as needed.
Collaboration
- Work with product and engineering to define requirements and deliverables.
- Setup design reviews to collect and provide feedback.
Prototyping & Testing
- Build functional prototypes to validate designs.
- Conduct usability tests and iterate based on feedback.
- Collaborate with engineering and refine designs during the build stage.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field.
- 5+ years UI/UX design experience with a strong portfolio.
- Minimum of 2 years SaaS design experience.
- Proficient in Figma and Adobe Creative Suite.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Availability to work in our Chicago office 3 days a week.
