Our Senior Software Engineers lead large technical projects, help set the direction for our trading infrastructure, and serve as role models within the organization. In this role, you will join a global team that works to enable smarter, data-driven decision-making, position our trading practices at the forefront of the industry, and evolve our efforts to optimize and expand our trading and research potential through well-engineered solutions.

You’ll bring a background in developing large-scale data platforms, ready to apply your engineering expertise to complex technical challenges aimed at both improving existing and building new platforms that meet our research needs, ensuring scalability and efficiency across our global trading operations.


What you’ll do:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the company to solve data challenges from ingestion to utilization
  • Partner with traders and researchers to develop datasets that support both historical insights and real-time data feeds through innovative batch and stream processing
  • Continually refine our frameworks to manage growing data volumes efficiently and accurately
  • Craft scalable and efficient technological solutions, ensuring operational excellence in all aspects of data handling
  • Develop high-performance trading algorithms that leverage both historical and real-time market data
  • Ensure new and existing programs adhere to our coding, architectural, and operational standards
  • Develop a deep understanding of trading and exchanges

Who you are:

  • Experience leading large scale projects
  • Expertise in designing and refining data platforms
  • Strong engineering instincts and a deep understanding of computer science fundamentals
  • Experience with C, C++, or Python
  • Familiarity with big data solutions, Linux containerization, and research frameworks
  • Experience with Pandas, Polars, PyArrow, Kafka, PostgreSQL, DeltaTable, or AWS
  • Innovative, big-picture thinking grounded in real-world pragmatism
  • Desire to continuously improve in a rapidly evolving environment
  • Readiness to set technical direction, promote engineering principles, and do the right thing

Below is the expected base salary for this position. This is a good-faith estimate of the base pay scale for this position and offers will ultimately be determined based on experience, education, skill set, and performance in the interview process. This position will also be eligible for a discretionary bonus (if determined by Optiver) and Optiver’s benefits package with the benefits listed above.
