Kin is redesigning insurance to be smarter, faster, and centered on the customer. We use intelligent pricing, offer seamless bundling, and make every step (from purchasing, servicing to claims) simple and friction-free, especially in the places traditional insurers often ignore.

We empower people to protect what matters most, starting with their homes and expanding to all they value, in a world where climate risks, rising costs, and outdated systems leave too many behind. Our approach has fostered amazing growth, attracted marquee investors, and earned us accolades, including being named to:

  • Built In Chicago's Best Places to Work, Midsize Companies (2021-2025).

  • Forbes' America's Best Startup Employers (2021- 2024, Ranked #37 in 2024).

  • Inc. 5000 Fastest-Growing Private Companies.

  • Forbes’ Fintech 50.

Simply put, our people are what make us great – we need forward-thinking, inspired game-changers like you to join us in our mission.

So, what’s the role?

As a Senior Front-End Software Engineer on the Lead Generation team, you’ll build experiences that power how Kin attracts, qualifies, and connects with prospective customers. Your work will span everything from marketing site enhancements and campaign-driven experiments to engineering systems that support our growing lead infrastructure. This includes designing front-end features that interface with internal APIs and third-party platforms that deliver marketing leads.

While this is a front-end focused role, experience with data normalization, API integrations, and scalable system design is a strong plus—especially as we expand how we ingest and manage inbound customer data from a wide variety of sources.

A day in the life could include:

  • Developing user-facing components on our marketing website using Angular and TypeScript

  • Partnering with Marketing and Design teams to deliver high-impact A/B tests and landing pages

  • Improving site speed, accessibility, and SEO through front-end optimization

  • Building out UI and integration points for workflows that ingest, enrich, or categorize lead data

  • Connecting front-end events with tools like Twilio Segment, Customer.io, and Google Tag Manager

  • Collaborating with engineers and data stakeholders to improve how leads flow through internal systems

  • Participating in code reviews and mentoring teammates to grow front-end expertise across the team

I’ve got the skills… but do I have the necessary ones?

  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with a focus on front-end development

  • Strong hands-on experience with Angular and TypeScript

  • Deep understanding of HTML, CSS, and performance/accessibility best practices

  • Comfort working with third-party tools and APIs to integrate external services

  • A collaborative approach to working with cross-functional teams in design, marketing, and analytics

  • Experience integrating front-end apps with analytics, event tracking, and user behavior tools

  • A self-starter mentality and excitement to solve open-ended problems that bridge multiple systems

Other skills that I might have, that would be nice to have for this role to help hit the ground running:

  • Marketing and customer engagement tools: Segment, Customer.io, Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics

  • Monitoring and behavior analytics: Datadog, FullStory

  • Content and compliance platforms: Split.io, Zesty.io, TrustArc

  • Lead distribution platforms: Boberdoo, MediaAlpha, Everflow

  • Experience with API design, data pipelines, or high-volume form submissions

  • Familiarity with back-end development, especially in Ruby on Rails

Oh, and don’t worry, we’ve got you covered!

We offer a comprehensive benefits program, allowing you to choose the benefits that are best for you and your family including: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short and Long Term Disability Insurance options, Employee Assistance Program, as well as elective voluntary benefits such as accident insurance, hospital indemnity, critical illness, legal assistance and pet insurance. Kinfolk become eligible for benefits on the first day of the month following their start date.

In addition to these benefits, we also are excited to offer the following:

  • Competitive salary and company equity through Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), granted as part of our standard compensation package and based on role and level.

  • 401K with company match of up to 4% of eligible earnings

  • Flexible PTO for exempt employees (employees typically take 15-20 days annually), along with 8 company-observed holidays

  • A paid parental leave program that provides 100% salary continuation of up to 14 weeks for birthing parents and 8 weeks for non birthing parents

  • Continuing education and professional development opportunities
