closerlook’s Senior SQL Developer will collaborate with the other members of the closerlook team to provide both new custom solutions and support of existing .NET and SQL Server web and automated console solutions. Responsibilities include handling more complex shorter-term requests for data that support reporting and marketing initiatives, and architecting long-term tools and processes to enable self-service access to data.  This position will work with stakeholders to enhance, design, and construct new data-related processes and applications, and direct the work of and mentor SQL Developers.

It is key for the Senior SQL Developer to have a passion for working with data and to possess expert level skills in T-SQL and the Microsoft BI-Stack (SSIS, SSRS and SSAS).  They must also have a solid understanding of the data applications used by other competencies, including Tableau and other analytical systems.

This is an important role that will work with various competencies to deliver solutions to both our clients and internal teams.

Responsibilities

  • Handle complex requests for data that support reporting and marketing initiatives.
  • Architect long-term tools and design processes to enable self-service access to data.
  • Work with Project Managers, Business Analysts, Technical Architects and Application Designers to help define the data requirements and structure for business intelligence (BI) applications.
  • Provides technical support to project team members.
  • Leads and directs the work of others on projects and programs they architect or are responsible for. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
  • Assist in the creation of a robust, sustainable architecture that supports requirements and provides for expansion.
  • Stays informed of current and emerging technologies and shares his or her assessment of those technologies with the larger development team.

 

Requirements 

  • B.S. in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or Statistics.
  • Two or more years of experience with C#.NET on Web or console applications.
  • Five or more years of demonstrated experience in writing and maintaining complex T-SQL, including stored procedures.
  • Five or more years of experience with the Microsoft BI Stack (SSIS, SSAS, SSRS)
  • Five or more years of experience in database design and administration of Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Demonstrated acumen in non-Microsoft analytic tools or processes (such as Tableau, R, Predictive Modelling, etc.)
  • Strong documentation skills.
  • Identify and provide supporting documentation of procedures and requirements.
  • Microsoft Visual Studio
  • Experience on technical projects with limited supervision and with strong attention to details.
  • Ability to learn existing systems without a tremendous amount of guidance.
  • Concern with the quality of the work and identification with the work.
  • Ability and willingness to convey concepts and solutions to both technical and non-technical team members.
  • An interest in statistics and marketing is a plus.
  • Prior experience with CRM systems and process is a plus.
