Position:

Do you have a passion for solving complex problems? Part Systems, part Software Engineer, the Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) is a member of the SAP Fieldglass Data Center Operations team that is responsible for monitoring and maintaining the operational health and integrity of the SAP Fieldglass production, Dev/OPS and back office data center systems, applications and services. The SRE plays a vital role in hunting down complex technical issues and helps to ensure SAP Fieldglass meets its service and operational level agreements between internal and external clients. The position will be in our Chicago or Naperville office. 

Responsibilities Include:

• Troubleshoot and resolve complex system and application issues in production data center environments.
• Monitor system, application, and network service trends and take proactive measures to ensure reliability and performance exceeds stated objectives.
• Provide hands-on technical expertise during service impacting events.
• Perform incident management, problem resolution, root cause analysis and deliver detailed documentation on significant incidents.
• Manage SRE systems and applications.
• Isolate application issues through application logging, deciphering stack traces, and understanding basic software engineering principles.
• Participate in On Call rotation and act as a first respond to triage and escalate incidents to appropriate engineering teams.
• Coordinate preventative system maintenance and changes while minimizing impact to customers and maximizing productivity of company resources.
• Partner with other IT teams to deliver project that support the SAP Fieldglass IT vision/mission and SAP Fieldglass business objectives.
• Develop knowledge-sharing resources and tools including standards, policies, procedures, best practices and runbooks.

We're Looking For:

• 3+ years of experience managing SRE tools (SolarWinds Orion, Splunk, Foglight, Nagios, etc.
• Extensive experience with Cisco network, HP, VMWare and Microsoft server diagnostic and monitoring tools
• Familiarity with SNMP, WMI, Syslog, Netflow, RPC and DCOM
• Familiarity with Microsoft PowerShell or at least one object oriented programming language
• Basic SQL Server knowledge including SQL scripting and familiarity with AlwaysOn and Availability Groups
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and organization skills
• Ability to prioritize concurrent project and incidents
• Self-starter, team player and goal driven personality
