Department OverviewDeployment Resource Transitioning to CMSO
This position offers a unique opportunity to join the West Strategic Project Team as a Deployment Resource, directly executing software deployments for the high-profile Maricopa County, AZ Sheriff’s Department. After completing the deployment, the resource will transition to a permanent role in the Centralized Managed Support Operations (CMSO) Division. Initially, the resource will implement a complex software ecosystem, developing essential skills for ongoing customer support once the deployment team shifts to maintenance mode.
West Strategic Project Team:
This high-performing team collaborates with intricate, high-profile clients throughout the Western U.S. We thrive on innovation, delivering fresh ideas and insights while maintaining integrity and collaboration. Team members receive intensive orientation to Motorola’s software and comprehensive training, ensuring long-term success.
Centralized Managed Support Operations (CMSO):
After successful deployment, the resource will move into CMSO, which serves as MSI’s global service delivery engine, focused on providing a seamless customer experience. The division supports customers post-deployment, ensuring they maximize the value of their systems.
This role provides the chance to gain invaluable experience in cutting-edge software implementations, followed by continued support for clients in Arizona, all while upholding the high standards synonymous with Motorola Solutions.
Job Description

The Software Application Specialist will manage the deployment processes of Motorola’s public safety and command center software suite within complex software ecosystems for public safety agencies. This role requires a strong blend of technical expertise and project management skills to ensure seamless integration and optimal performance of the software applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead Requirements Gathering: Collect business process requirements from subject matter experts and create comprehensive discovery documentation to capture the needs and expectations of stakeholders.

  • Facilitate Stakeholder Collaboration: Serve as a bridge between Motorola’s deployment team, customer subject matter experts, and IT teams, ensuring alignment on both functional and non-functional requirements.

  • Assess Business Processes: Evaluate the customer’s current business processes, identify opportunities for improvement, and provide informed recommendations for changes using a structured approach.

  • Collaborate on Software Delivery: Work with various stakeholders to deliver interfaces, software modules, configurations, and provisioning effectively and efficiently, while considering the broader objectives of the customer’s business needs.

  • Plan and Coordinate Activities: Independently plan, prioritize, and coordinate complex and concurrent activities to meet deadlines in a dynamic and often changing environment.

  • Lead User Acceptance Testing (UAT): Define, facilitate, and guide the customer through User Acceptance Testing, documenting results and measuring outcomes against the project’s Functional Requirements Matrix.

  • Present Analysis Results: Present analysis results to various groups, developing presentations and spreadsheets that support decision-making and business cases by summarizing relevant information.

  • Project Management Partnership: Collaborate with Project Managers and the Program Director to manage projects from inception through to conclusion, ensuring that deliverables meet the established timelines and quality expectations.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in public safety software integration and deployment processes.

  • Strong analytical skills with a robust understanding of business processes.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with stakeholders.

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Proficiency in creating documentation, presentations, and spreadsheets.

This position is critical for ensuring the successful deployment and optimization of our software solutions within public safety agencies, contributing to our mission of enhancing safety and operational efficiency.

What we are looking for: 

  • 5-8 years of IT Business applications or similar related experience, with a preference for experience in computer-aided dispatch, law records management software and field-based applications.

  • Previous experience as a Business Analyst or Application Specialist in medium to large-sized organizations.

  • Proven ability to maintain high-quality documentation and present technical solutions effectively.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to resolve complex issues positively and professionally.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Experience in Business Process Re-engineering related to software applications for business purposes.

  • A passion for delivering world-class customer experiences.

  • Familiarity with Windows-based Operating Systems, Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Service (SSRS), intermediate XML knowledge, and Google Docs/Sheets.

  • Knowledge of software deployment methodologies and quality processes.

  • Ability to collaborate with various teams and report progress or risks to senior management.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Important Requirements:

Please note that this position may involve working in high-security areas governed by the US Department of Justice's "Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy" and will require passing a stringent fingerprint background check administered by Motorola Solutions’ customers.

Candidates must currently reside in or be willing to relocate (within 3 months) to Maricopa County, Arizona USA.

Basic Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Project Management, Engineering or related field and 3 Years of experience in a public safety Information technology field.

  • OR 5+ years experience in one of the following: Public Safety, Business Analysis, Field Service, CAD- Computer Aided Dispatch, Record Management Systems, and Jail Applications

  • Must be able to obtain background clearance as required by government customer

  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely is required. Employer work permit sponsorship is not available for this position
