Sr. Full Stack Developer | Chicago

What is the job?
Our Sr. Full Stack Developer will work closely with a team of Python developers to create complex integrations for university learning software. You will be responsible for:

  • Managing technical, complex, and large-scale projects to develop, maintain, and enhance applications
  • Contributing to our current code base and helping with architecture and design for future releases
  • Proactively updating stakeholders and maintaining open communication
  • Performing other duties as assigned by management

What are we looking for?
First and foremost, we are looking for someone who is passionate about development and making an impact in the higher education market. Candidates should have 7 - 8 years of experience in technology, with 3 - 5 years as a developer where you have been moderately exposed to developing in Python and/or JavaScript. Previous work in the education/publishing industry is preferred but not required. Additional requirements include:

  • Experience with Agile and/or Scum development methods
  • Ability to manage and mentor other developers
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfortable developing and leading projects independently with little to no direction
  • Capable of balancing multiple priorities and deadlines while being adaptable to the changing needs of the business

What’s the tech stack?
Ideally, you should have experience with these technologies or some equivalent. However, we are willing to train the right candidate if you are passionate about the position and our goals.

  • Python, JavaScript
  • Django, Celery, RabbitMQ, Elasticsearch, Redis, PostgreSQL
  • Ember, Mithril
  • AWS, Docker, Jenkins, Salt
  • Nose, QUnit, PhantomJS, pytest
