Job Description Summary

Responsible for designing, developing, documenting, testing and debugging applications software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions. Conducts multidisciplinary research and collaborates with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software. Determines computer user needs; analyzes system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls; prepares operating instructions. Designs and develops compilers and assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems. Ensures software standards are met. Provides engineering support for technical implementation of cyber solutions in conjunction with hardware product development, for medical, industrial, military, communications, aerospace, and scientific applications, applying principles and techniques of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis. Conducts vulnerability research, penetration testing, malware analysis and reverse engineering development of computer network operations tools.

As part of the NCAPS mission, you will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and maintaining the infrastructure and platforms that enable seamless collaboration and innovation across NASA’s data science and operational teams. This is an opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge cloud and containerized solutions supporting NASA’s exploration and discovery missions.

The Opportunity:

CACI is seeking Platform Engineers with expertise in cloud infrastructure, container orchestration, and automation to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will design and manage the foundational platforms for NASA’s Enterprise Data Platform (EDP), ensuring high availability, scalability, and performance. This is a hands-on technical role requiring deep knowledge of cloud-native technologies and infrastructure as code (IaC).

Responsibilities:

Design, implement, and maintain infrastructure using Terraform to enable scalable and repeatable cloud deployments.

Build and optimize secure, high-performance systems using AWS services and architectures.

Monitor and manage cloud resources for cost efficiency and performance. Deploy and manage containerized applications using Kubernetes (EKS) to ensure high availability and reliability.

Implement CI/CD pipelines for efficient and secure application delivery.

Ensure platform reliability through robust monitoring, logging, and alerting systems.

Proactively identify and resolve platform performance bottlenecks and security vulnerabilities.

Work closely with development teams, data engineers, and other stakeholders to meet platform requirements and support applications.

Develop automated scripts and workflows to streamline platform management tasks.

Continuously evaluate and improve system performance and scalability.

Qualifications: Required:

Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 5+ years of relevant experience in cloud engineering, platform engineering, or related roles.

Advanced knowledge of the following:

Terraform for Infrastructure as Code AWS cloud services and offerings Expertise in deploying and managing Kubernetes clusters, specifically Amazon EKS

Desired:

Experience with Apache Airflow for orchestration workflows

Familiarity with Databricks for data engineering and analytics workloads Knowledge of cloud cost optimization techniques

Experience implementing security best practices in cloud and containerized environments

The proposed salary range for this position is:

$98,500-$206,800
