Your Role at MediaLab

As a Staff DevOps Platform Engineer, you will have two main roles.

The first one as an IC in which  you will design, implement, and maintain a scalable, reliable, and secure DevOps infrastructure aligning with the organization's needs mainly focussing on central teams Data, Assembly and Trust  & Safety. Your expertise will drive the automation of deployment and monitoring of applications, services, and systems ensuring consistency, reliability, and efficiency. Oversee cloud services in Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Google Cloud Platform (GCP), optimizing both resource usage and cost as well as maintaining a healthy security posture.  

The second one as Chapter Lead in which will be working with all DevOps practitioners in the organization in order to establish and spread technical standards, knowledge sharing and skills development, creating a community and aligning on technology choices that will affect all teams in the organization not just the central ones.

Both of these roles demand close collaboration with development, product, and support teams, ensuring the seamless integration of the DevOps infrastructure with development and deployment processes. Implement and maintain robust continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines, setting the standards for automation of building, testing, and deployment processes.

What You'll Do

  • Design, implement, and maintain infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools like Terraform, Ansible.
  • Automate the creation of servers, containers, and services using tools like Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, ArgoCD, and GitHub Actions.
  • Develop and maintain monitoring and logging solutions using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, and the ELK stack.
  • Ensure the security and compliance of the DevOps infrastructure by implementing best practices and standards, utilizing tools such as Security Command Center, Wiz, and Snyk, and adhering to standards like SAML, MFA, and TLS, and CIS controls.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to the DevOps infrastructure, applications, and services, and offer technical guidance and mentorship to junior DevOps engineers and other team members.
  • Stay on top of the latest DevOps trends, tools, and practices, and make well-informed recommendations for improvements to the DevOps infrastructure.
  • Actively promote DevOps as a culture and standard through Chapters.

What We're Searching For

  • 10+ years experience in a relevant field, with a proven track record in designing and implementing fault-tolerant solutions in a cloud-based environment.
  • BS degree in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience.
  • Proficiency in writing code and solving problems.
  • Experience with tools such as Ansible, Terraform, Docker, Kubernetes, and Istio.
  • Experience managing Amazon or GCP infrastructure.
  • Experience with ETL pipelines, CI/CD, and relevant tools like Jenkins, GitLab, and GitHub Actions.
  • Comfortable making changes to existing codebase
  • Experience being a change agent within medium to large organizations
