Student Operations Manager

This isn’t the internship where you fetch coffee or sit in meetings nodding like you understand everything.
This is the one where you actually run things.

At Storage Scholars, students don’t just help, they run campus operations. If you want an internship where you make decisions, lead teams, and own the outcome, this role is for you.

We’re hiring driven college students to lead our 2026 moving and storage operations on campus. You’ll be trusted with real responsibility, supported by training and mentorship, and given the freedom to execute.

What Makes This Role Different

• You’re not shadowing someone else
• You’re not waiting around to be told what to do
• You’re leading teams and making decisions

When campus gets busy, you’ll take an active role in keeping operations running smoothly. You’ll manage teams, solve problems as they come up, and make decisions that impact real students on your campus.

What You’ll Do

• Lead and manage student mover teams
• Own daily operations during move-out and move-in
• Work directly with fellow students as your customers
• Load, unload, organize, and transport student belongings
• Drive moving trucks and coordinate logistics
• Manage inventory through our online system
• Organize orders within our storage facilities
• Coordinate with professional moving partners and regional staff
• Represent Storage Scholars on campus and assist with outreach
• Adapt quickly when plans change and problems arise

How the Year Works

Starting in March
• Self-paced virtual training
• Bi-weekly remote check-ins with your Campus Team Manager

End of Spring Semester
• Transition into a fully on-campus leadership role
• Oversee and lead move-out operations

Summer
• No requirement to stay on campus
• Option to step away for other jobs or plans
• Optional opportunities to work with Storage Scholars on campus or in your hometown

Fall Return
• Come back to campus early
• Lead move-in operations and wrap up the season

Compensation

• $200 training bonus
• $50 intern referral bonus
• $25 customer referral bonus
• Commission-based pay for every item picked up and delivered
• All tips paid directly to managers and movers

Who Thrives in This Role

This role is a great fit for students who
• Want real responsibility, not just something to put on a resume
• Step up naturally and set the pace for their team
• Communicate clearly and stay calm when things get busy
• Are comfortable in fast-paced, hands-on environments

What You’ll Walk Away With

By the end of the year, you’ll have
• Experience leading real operations while still in college
• Confidence making decisions that actually matter
• Practical team leadership and logistics skills
• A close campus team and friendships that last beyond the job
• A standout story you can clearly explain in interviews

Where This Role Can Take You

Former Student Operations Managers have gone on to
• Step into full-time leadership roles at Storage Scholars
• Build their own companies and pitch on Shark Tank, securing a deal with Mark Cuban
• Land competitive full-time roles at large companies, including Big Four firms

Take it from the students who’ve actually done the role:

“Working for Storage Scholars has been an incredible opportunity to grow as a leader and individual while supporting my fellow students during their campus moves. The role strengthened my communication skills, leadership capabilities, and my ability to manage large-scale operations in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.”
— Ben Hamilton, Operations Manager, Elon University

“Working at Storage Scholars felt different from the start. The culture was incredibly welcoming, and I immediately felt like an essential part of the organization. The training was designed to empower real performance, and the growth I experienced has given me transferable skills I use in all areas of my life.”
— Victoria Adeaga, Senior Operations Manager, Columbia University
