Position Summary

The Director, Supply Planning is a strategic leadership role responsible for driving service excellence, cost optimization, and working capital efficiency through effective supply planning within the Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process.

This role oversees the integrated planning of Master Production Schedule (MPS), Material Requirements Planning (MRP), and Distribution Requirements Planning (DRP) to deliver measurable improvements in service levels, cost reduction, and inventory optimization across the integrated supply chain network, directly supporting division strategic objectives thru the ability to provide scenario planning that mitigates risks and identifies opportunity, as well as contingency planning to reduce impacts within the Sales and Execution (S&OE timeframe).  This role will also be critical in the transformation of the sequential DRP, MPS and MRP planning process into a concurrent Supply Planning Process.

The Director, Supply Planning will need to demonstrate exceptional team leadership and development capabilities, Strong decision-making ability in complex, dynamic environments, excellence in stakeholder management and executive communication and strong business acumen and strategic thinking capabilities

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Supply Planning Value Creation

  • Develop and execute monthly tactical Supply Plans to achieve Beer division targets for service improvement, cost reduction, and working capital optimization by driving cross-functional collaboration between all S&OP Supply cross functional stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement total network optimization plans against strategic targets and policies set by Advanced Planning to reduce costs while maintaining or improving service levels, based on changing demand and supply constraints.
  • Drive inventory optimization programs to reduce working capital exposure while improving service levels, mitigating any impeding risks and/or new opportunities within the tactical S&OP planning horizon.
  • Identify and capture cost reduction opportunities and/or strategic Advanced Planning target adherence through improved S&OP Supply planning practices, network optimization, and process efficiency

S&OP Supply Review Leadership

  • Own and lead the monthly supply review process, ensuring comprehensive evaluation of supply capabilities, constraints, and risks using exception management.
  • Coach and support Supply Planning team to ensure timely collection and validation of supply-related data from all sites and functions prior to review meetings
  • Drive the development of supply scenarios that balance service levels, cost, and risk, incorporating input from all relevant stakeholders.
  • Drive resolution of supply-demand mismatches through collaborative problem-solving sessions with key stakeholders, utilizing data driven decision making.
    • Collaborate with Demand Planning to reconcile supply capabilities with demand forecasts
    • Work closely with Procurement to ensure material availability and supplier capacity alignment
    • Coordinate with Manufacturing and Logistics leadership to optimize capacity utilization and network efficiency
  • Lead S&OP supply review meetings, presenting executive-level supply review materials that effectively communicate key issues, risks, and opportunities, as well as clear recommendations. 
    • Facilitate data driven decision-making
    • Escalate any risks/issues that need Leadership resolution thru the Pre-S&OP and/or Exec S&OP meetings,
    • Utilize probability assessment and present quality contingency recommendations that are thorough enough for efficient, disciplined decision making.
  • Drives data and metric driven Supply Planning process, reviews post-game performance results with S&OE intel, and works with peers and team to drive KPI improvements (i.e., plan adherence, accuracy, value add) for supply planning effectiveness
  • Translate monthly updated S&OP Supply Plan assumptions and targets into executional targets for S&OE.
  • Establish and maintain a robust supply review calendar that aligns with the broader S&OP cadence.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Transform the current state sequential DRP, MPS and MRP planning process into a concurrent Supply Planning Process across all functions.
  • Articulate and implement the future state digital S&OP Supply Planning vision, processes, products and capabilities across team and key stakeholder partners.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the S&OP Supply Planning processes in conjunction with overarching S&OP/IBP strategy, utilizing best practices and leveraging technology to improve data accuracy, visibility, and collaboration.
  • Implement standard operating procedures for Supply planning activities across the S&OP horizon in partnership with Advanced Planning.
  • Create a culture of continuous improvement, reviewing processes to identify gaps and find solutions, using a continuous improvement mindset in support of the team and cross functional partnerships performance.

Talent Management:

  • Build a diverse, high-performing S&OP Supply Planning team, focused on successful outcomes to be an incubator of ideas, determining innovative ways of working to collaborate cross functionally to achieve results.
  • Identify the capabilities needed to meet the development of the Supply Planning team. Evaluate current capabilities, identify gaps, and prioritize development activities.
  • Build capabilities elsewhere in the organization through formalized training, clear and concise operating model overview, mentoring and other informal methods.
  • Set clear performance expectations and provide regular feedback to team members to ensure optimal performance.
  • Manage a team of 10+ professionals

Success Metrics:

  • Service Level Excellence- OTIF, Perfect order fulfillment rate, Customer satisfaction scores
    • Design and implement service improvement strategies targeting industry-leading customer service levels, thru robust shortage management processes to minimize customer impact, early warning systems for potential service disruptions
    • Establish service recovery protocols for critical customers and products based on Advanced Planning segmentation strategy.
    • Lead root cause analysis of service failures and implement corrective actions
  • Cost Leadership- YoY total landed cost reduction strategic plan achievements, production efficiency improvements, Logistics/Labor/Network cost optimization
    • Drive strategic target achievement and/or cost reduction initiatives through improved planning efficiency
    • Optimize production plan to minimize total landed cost, minimize overtime and premium labor costs
    • Mitigate any unforeseen deployment constraint impact on total supply plan impact on total landed cost
    • Optimize network utilization, reduce inefficient Logistics costs, DC capacity constraints, increase direct import strategic plan adherence through better planning and execution
  • Working Capital Management- Inventory turns improvement, working capital reduction targets, Days inventory outstanding, Obsolescence reduction
    • Lead initiatives to maintain strategic inventory strategy, reducing obsolescence and waste
    • Execute strategic inventory optimization strategies and develop any risk mitigation strategies across all nodes and SKUs
    • Execute strategic optimal safety stock levels based on service requirements and variability and develop any risk mitigation strategies
    • Drive improvements in inventory turns through better planning practices
  • Operational Excellence- Supply plan accuracy and adherence, Team development and retention, Process improvement implementation, Supply review meeting effectiveness, quality of supply review recommendations

Role Expertise

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management and/or 12+ years’ experience in supply chain, with 5+ years of leadership experience within Integrated Business planning functions. MBA Preferred.
  • Proven knowledge of standard planning concepts, practices, and procedures within the CPG, preferably Beverage Alcohol, industry.
  • Required to be bilingual in English and Spanish to interact with diverse team and key stakeholders.
  • Strong collaborator with cross-functional teams from Commercial, Supply Chain, finance, and digital.
  • Talent management experience and demonstrated results in managing and developing a team of strong skilled professionals required.
  • Experience leading transformational change initiatives

Planning Expertise

  • 4-6+ Proven experience across Sales and Operations planning, with a strong background in MPS, MRP, and DRP planning methodologies
  • Expert knowledge of inventory management and production planning principles.
  • Financial modeling expertise.
  • Proven track record of delivering measurable improvements in service, cost, and working capital
  • Excellent leadership and influencing skills with cross-functional teams, that may have disparate opinions and agendas, developing common outcomes, strategies and plans that drive change and turning vision into action. Builds sense of working team goals, focusing working team on those ends while balancing trade-offs in each stakeholder community.
  • Deep understanding of technology enablement and current technology planning tools (i.e. o9, Blue Yonder, SAP).  Experience with capacity planning and constraint-based planning tools.
  • High level of business acumen is required, including the knowledge and ability to have an E2E holistic perspective.
  • Comfortable with process discipline and process adherence, and able to identify and take opportunities to develop, further and strengthen a process

The salary range for this role is:

$154,100.00 - $251,400.00

This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting.  Our compensation is based on cost of labor. For remote locations or positions open to multiple locations, the pay range may reflect several US geographic markets, including the lowest geographic market minimum to the highest geographic market maximum. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future.
