As a Technical Support Engineer in our Site Operations Centre, you will provide first level support for Groupon's customer facing website. 

You'll work with some pretty cool likeminded people in our Global team and it's a great opportunity to learn and get exposure to a diverse set of technologies that support a large, public facing website.

Responsibilities Include:

• Follow-the-sun technical support, trouble shooting and crisis management of our platform/servers (mainly Linux)
• Monitoring our Groupon site, responding to alerts and assisting development teams with operational tasks
• Managing incidents that arise, escalating to the correct teams, and handling communication

The ideal candidate:

• Prior experience working within a similar industry or large complex environment and the technologies associated with them (load balancing, Apache, Nginx, Nagios, etc)
• Solid Linux administration experience
• Experience with system administration scripting and programming, with Ruby, Python, Perl or similar
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work collaboratively through an agile development process that promotes constant team communication
• A self-starter and knowledge and experience applying operational best practices
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or other related degree desirable
