Ideal candidates will be comfortable extracting detailed specifications from high level requirements and managing priorities that can shift rapidly.
Your Core Responsibilities:
- Work closely with traders to prototype and develop tools and libraries to support new analysis techniques
- Working directly with front office teams to improve their analysis and optimize workflows
- Translate financial markets-specific requirements into technical specifications
- Applying software skills to analysis problems in the trading domain
- Optimizing data access to improve iteration time for new ideas and working with tools like SQL, Polars/Python and Spark to ensure that data is accessed in the most efficient way possible
- Developing broad knowledge of analysis tools at IMC and how they can best be applied to various problems, in order to advise quantitative researchers and traders
Your Skills & Experience:
- 3+ years of engineering experience in financial markets; previous experience working in a prop trading environment is a plus
- Experience interfacing with front-office traders, analysts, or quantitative researchers
- Strong knowledge of Python language fundamentals; ability to write both OO and functional style code
- Hands-on experience with the JupyterHub/JupyterLab environment as an advanced user; previous experience supporting it across multiple users preferred
- Experience with major python analysis libraries such as pandas, polars, numpy, scipy, scikit-learn is highly desirable, especially in relation to optimization of performance on large data analytics
- Experience with distributed analysis or query engines like Spark, Trino, Dremio and Dask
- Experience working with data lake technologies like Databricks, Snowflake, Iceberg and Parquet
- Experience using LLM tools for productivity, including analysis and code generation
