Months after announcing its first round of outside funding since the company’s founding 13 years ago, Chicago-based ActiveCampaign has leased 52,165 square feet of office space, brokered by real estate partner Cushman & Wakefield.

“Company culture has been critical in building a diverse team that can challenge the norm within the marketing technology space,” says Jason VandeBoom CEO and Founder of ActiveCampaign. “Our new space will accommodate our rapid growth and will build upon the key values that benefit our team, along with the tens of thousands of small businesses that rely on our platform.”

ActiveCampaign is a marketing and customer lifecycle management software provider with over 115 current employees. The new office space will allow growth to 350 employees. The space greets visitors with a natural timber ceiling feature above a large central meeting area, to be used for the company’s enviable catered lunches along with internal and community events. Other features include a Chicago Athletic Association-inspired recreation area (including a speakeasy meeting area hidden behind bookshelf doors) and cityscape views that span an entire city block on Madison Street between Dearborn and State Streets. Employees will also have access to the building’s new rooftop deck and fitness facility. Perhaps the most non-traditional feature of ActiveCampaign’s future home is the absence of offices—the entire work area is a variation of the popular open office concept, encouraging collaboration, culture and communication across the board while allowing for different types of working environments for different teams.

“We took an employee-led design approach and the outcome is a direct reflection of our people,” said VandeBoom. “The result is a space that caters to an exceptional thinking and working environment, but with a witty, playful twist.”

ActiveCampaign was advised by Cushman & Wakefield brokers Jeff Skender, Ari Klein and Scott Shelbourne, who are known for their strategic and creative approach to solving client growth issues.

“This space will allow employees to thrive and grow along with the business,” said Skender. “Every facet of this project is geared towards promoting ActiveCampaign’s culture in order to recruit the very best talent to the organization. We cannot wait to see their vision for this office come to fruition.”

Cushman & Wakefield’s Project Development Services will oversee the buildout of the new space, led by project manager, I-Lee Hwa.

Jack O’Brien and Caroline Colnon of The Telos Group represented the landlord at 1 North Dearborn.

ActiveCampaign, currently located at 222 S Riverside, will relocate to the new 1 N Dearborn location in August.
