Designing Inclusive Practices
Mar 5
You’ve tried it all, partnering with Black Girls Code, sponsoring a Black Tech Mecca Event, and volunteering at Latinx Tech Pitch Night. Yet your organization still doesn’t have design talent from marginalized groups. There is usually a wave of applications after these events, but rarely does anyone make it past the first interview. Even if they do, the candidate doesn’t accept the job citing “cultural fit” reasons and you’re left mystified.
It is possible your hiring process might be unintentionally turning people away. During this breakfast, we’re going to discuss how common practices in design recruiting and interviewing process might be turning off people from marginalized groups from applying or accepting offers.
Join us at Grand Studio for a breakfast workshop presented by Theresa Stewart of Colored.
