Enterprise cloud computing leader Salesforce has been on a World Tour — of Chicago.

CEO Marc Benioff announced plans at the Salesforce World Tour Chicago at McCormick Place yesterday that his company plans to hire hundreds more workers for its Chicago office, bringing the current employee count up to 1,000. At that number Salesforce would become one of the largest tech companies in Chicago. The city's blossoming tech scene and ability to draw a skilled workforce encouraged the expansion, he said, according to Crain's.

Their flagship sales and CRM applications help companies connect with customers, partners, and employees through the cloud.

Mayor Rahm Emanuel was on-hand to make the announcement, which is nothing new for the recently reelected mayor, who announed earlier this month that several tech companies across the city would hire 1,000 new workers in total by the end of 2015.

The San Francisco-based company currently occupies 116,000 square feet in their River North office building and has over 400 employees.
