Announcing the VentureUP Newsfeed!

Today we are launching the VentureUP Newsfeed – I couldn’t be more excited to provide this to our VentureUP members, the broader tech community, and anyone interested in tech/vc!

Why create the newsfeed?

When I started VentureUP, my goal was to create an opportunity for new VCs to accelerate their careers through the power of networks. Part of this includes meeting with folks who are just starting their first VC gig (just like myself 3 years ago) as well as prospective hires.

One of the most common questions I get asked is “What should I do to stay on top of the industry?” I give the same answers and send the same emails over and over again – the lists of blogs, news sites, and books that I follow and read.

I imagine people going back to their desks and following names on twitter, subscribing to RSS feeds, bookmarking blogs, etc etc etc. The same thing I’ve been doing for years in trying to keep up with this insanely fast moving industry.

I’ve compiled my own system to consume all the content out there. It’s worked great for me. Now I want to share this with the rest of the world.

The VentureUP Newsfeed connects to my own personal news system that I created for myself and shares all the latest news, blogs, and announcements with the rest of the world. Now, if someone asks me what to read I can point them to ONE LOCATION.

Our tagline for the Newsfeed is “One follow. All the news.” – and we mean it.

Who is this for?

The VentureUP newsfeed is designed for anyone interested in VC and tech to follow. I think it will be particularly useful for someone who’s just starting to get up to speed and wants to go to one place for all the information.

While we have a Midwest focus, we curate the most up to date content from hundreds of national sources:

– VC Blogs (Fred Wilson, A16Z, Brad Feld, Hunter Walk, Mark Suster, Bill Gurley, Ezra Galston, Matt McCall, Tomasz Tunguz, Jeff Carter, Guy Turner, etc.)

– VC News Outlets (TechCrunch, VentureBeat, Re/Code, Mattermark, Pando, etc.)

– VC Announcements (Press releases, VC Websites, Portfolio Websites, etc.)

– Local Publications / News Outlets (Blue Sky, Built in Chicago, Chicago Inno, Crains, etc.)

As new sources of news and content emerges, we’ll link them up to the Newsfeed so folks can stay up to date.
