Naperville-based HR tech firm Aasonn announced $20 million in the bank today to build up a service component for companies that outsource HR operations.

The investment comes just after fellow Chicago HR software company Fieldglass, which helps companies manage their temp workforces, was acquired by SAP for over $1 billion in March.

The 140-person Aasonn team, 30 of which work out of Naperville, typically helps companies implement SAP AG's SuccessFactors human resources software platform (as a global partner of SAP SuccessFactors). Now Aasonn’s Business Process as a Service offering promises to expand its existing implementation business by delivering outsourced HR services via the cloud.

“Aasonn is bringing to market the first HR BPO solution using SuccessFactors’ SaaS platform,” President and CEO Allen Peterson said in a statement. “It’s a game-changer that will revolutionize the concept of HR outsourcing today and enable customers to rely on Aasonn as a well-capitalized, experienced partner in the SAP ecosystem. LLR’s expertise in the tech-enabled services industry and access to a rich network of talent will be invaluable resources as we continue to develop this offering.”

This round, Aasonn’s first since it was founded in 2006, comes from Philadelphia-based LLR Partners. LLR Partners partner Todd Morrissey said the cash will go towards supporting the over 1,600 companies using Aasonn today and accommodating “the increasing number of customers looking for next-generation HR solutions.”
