Are you heading to the SHRM Conference in Chicago? Or are you just looking for some inside tips to the Windy City? We teamed up with fellow Chicago start-up UrbanBound to bring you Welcome to Chicago: A Guide to SHRM 2013. If you're ready to experience Chicago like the locals do, this guide is for you.

It's a widely known fact that Chicago is always undergoing road construction, so if you want to get anywhere on time, avoiding LSD (and every other road) is key. This guide is going to be your best friend when it comes to getting around. Outlining the best routes on the Chicago public transit system, you'll quickly learn your way around.

Now after running around the SHRM Conference all day, you're probably going to have worked up quite an appetite (both for food and drinks). But if you're like most people new to the city, you won't even know where to begin. Have a taste for hot dogs? We've got the place for you. Want a "wet" Italian beef? You better believe we know where to send you. Just want a nice glass of wine or a whiskey on the rocks? Follow us, we'll show you where to go to get the best of the best.

For those of you looking to make the most of your time in Chicago, we put together a list of our five favorite places to take a break from reality and just enjoy being in the city. Although Millennium Park and the Magnificent Mile are fun places to visit, we featured places that both tourists and locals love to frequent. Who's up for a visit to Al Capone's old hideout? What about a good laugh at the place Bill Murray, John & Jim Belushi, Tina Fey and Steve Carell all learned their craft? If so, this Chicago guide is for you.

Now for the real reason you're in Chicago - SHRM. It's at McCormick Place, a.k.a. the largest convention center in North America. Between Hireology and UrbanBound, we've been there hundreds of times and still manage to get lost. Luckily, we know how to get to the most important places - you know, the exhibiting halls and Starbucks - and we mapped it out for you right in this guide!

It's probably safe to assume you know who the keynote speakers are, so instead of regurgitating that information, this guide highlights the must-see speakers and gives a little background about each of them.

SHRM is known as the conference to attend. That being said, some companies go all out when it comes to exhibiting. Who remembers The Ladders' airplane booth from last year? So if you want to know which booths are a must-see, go to page 19!

To really make the most of your Chicago experience and live it up like a local, you're going to need to learn the lingo. But don't worry there's an entire diCHIonary with words you'll likely hear on a regular basis (i.e. LSD, the loop).

And for those of you SHRM attendees who can enjoy an occasional game of bingo, we've got something even better, CHIGO! If you bring your completed card to either the Hireology (#3140) or UrbanBound booth (#4434), you'll get a fun prize!

So who's ready for SHRM? After reading this guide, you'll know Chicago like the back of your hand!
