The brick & mortar retailer community has been up in arms this week over Amazon's announcement that they will be rewarding folks who scan something in a store with their bar code scanning app and then purchase it on their site. It's frustrating how often a shopper will check something out in my store, ask my advice about the item and then wonder out loud whether or not they could find it on Amazon. This has long been a problem for brick & mortar retailers, big and small, and I've been trying to respond with the Buy It Where You Try It message.
I was very excited the be quoted about that in the article Retailers Vs. Amazon: A Brick-and-Moral Dilemma in the Wall Street Journal's All Things Digital site. This link takes you to the article.
Little Independent is a Chicago-based online marketplace for sale items from independent retail stores. We're sort of like e-bay, etsy or Amazon but just for Main St. style shops. We launched on June 1st and now have 51 stores in 5 states on the site. If something good can come of Amazon's announcement, I hope it's that more people will find out about Little Independent!
Thanks for reading.
