Chicago, IL – February 26, 2013 –The Illinois Technology Foundation(ITF) has tapped industry expert Steven Wilt to lead the Center for Innovative Thinking (CFIT) – where the art and science of thinking meet to innovate business solutions -- in an effort to further its mission to help students successfully transition to the business community.

Spearheaded by industry thought-leader, innovation expert, and founder of Innovus, Steven Wilt, CFIT (www.cithink.org)  is a unique educational incubator that gives students the opportunity to develop and apply divergent and creative thinking skills   along with analytical, and problem-solving skills within the constructs of actual business challenges.  Curious and talented students from universities across the city will work with expert instructors on business issues submitted by local corporate partners. Student teams will use the processes, tools and techniques of The Mechanism™ (developed by Innovus and licensed by CFIT) to drive the creation of innovative solutions to business challenges offered by participating companies.  This practical application of skills to real business problems addresses the critical issue of students who are academically prepared but haven’t yet had the chance to apply those skills in a business setting.

“We are fortunate to have Steve leading this very important program”, William R. Waas, Chairman ITF “his experience, thought-leadership and professional energy for business innovation will help ensure the success of CFIT and expand our mission of bringing industry into the classroom”.

"It a privilege to be involved in the Center for Innovative Thinking.  This endeavor represents a unique opportunity for students to strengthen their skills in developing innovative solutions for challenges offered by participating companies.  More important, students will deliberately exercise and develop right-side-brain thinking and creativity - a competency essential to business today and one that will enhance their appeal as a job candidate to potential employers."
