The video above explains the first ever Chicago Tech Rocks pretty well, but if you happened to get distracted by the incredible costumes (like this writer did) here's a quick recap:

Synap Software Labs and the Chicago Leadership Alliance, are joining forces to bring together the Chicago tech community in support of local organizations focusing on tech education and training. The big headlining act is Chicago’s own Twin Peaks – who will be taking a break from their international tour to support the cause! The event will also feature in-house bands hailing from several different Chicago tech companies, including Centro.

The Chicago Tech Rocks Beneficiaries

All proceeds will go towards six beneficiary organizations focused on training and retaining top STEM talent in the Chicagoland area. 

LumityLumity is making Chicagoland a better place to work and live by providing access to STEM career readiness and connecting nonprofits to vital resources.

i.c. stars: Using project-based learning and full immersion teaching, i.c. stars provides an opportunity for change-driven, future leaders to develop skills in business and technology.

Year Up Chicago: A one-year, intensive training program that provides low-income young adults, ages 18-24, with a combination of hands-on skill development, college credits, and corporate internships.

Genesys Works: The organization enables inner-city high school students to break through barriers and discover through meaningful work experience that they can succeed as professionals in the corporate world.

Project Infinite Green: Designed to support public school curricula and STEM Education Coalition goals, Project Infinite Green ultimately aims to introduce students to the scientific and business aspects of creating clean energy solutions to the challenges we face today.

Black Tech Mecca: Black Tech Mecca is a collaborative community initiative that is building a thriving black tech ecosystem in Chicago by strengthening connections, quantifying impact, and directing growth for individuals, community organizations, and companies.
