Connected World Magazine Startup Competition Winners Announced. Read All About ’Em

The Connected World Conference held at the Chicago Auto Show produced three winners for the Connected World Startup Competition. After contenders were given seven minutes each to pitch, the judges narrowed down the field. In the second round, startups were given 20 minutes to pitch on stage. Connected World chose an incubator startup winner and also a winner from the university category.

We don’t mean to brag or anything—okay, we do—GimmeAnother was chosen as the incubator winner in a tie with fellow app startup PARKNAV. And the winner from the university category is WellCar, from the University of Kansas. Congrats! We wanted to give a shout out to our fellow podium finishers and share a little bit about these amazing businesses and ideas.

PARKNAV

PARKNAV (formerly known as FASPARK) is an app that helps you find parking near a specific business, your home or a friend’s place. It uses proprietary and public data sources to recommend driving routes to help reduce street parking time. Plus, it details zoned parking areas, metered spots and public lots and garages. So far, the app works in the city of Chicago and also in Munich, Germany.

WellCar

WellCar is still in the concept phase at the KU Center for Design Research. The WellCar takes us back to the days of doctors making house calls. The vehicle would facilitate the need for mobile health care in rural Kansas. Nurse practitioners would be able to travel around and provide a broad array of comprehensive, prevention-based basic care services. Essentially, WellCar will be a clinic on wheels.

Who are We?

The GimmeAnother app provides customers with a one-stop-shop on their mobile devices, where they can repurchase all of their favorite necessities in 10 seconds or less. GimmeAnother works with retailers who sell items that have a high recurrable factor—products customers re-order on a regular basis—like coffee, toiletries and specialty foods. Retailers can integrate GimmeAnother into their current shopping cart systems and provide their customers with the convenience of re-ordering when they want, where they want.

Special thanks to Connected World Magazine for its support and for the opportunity!
