edo appoints former Orbitz VP to CTO

edo, a local start-up that is transforming shopping and saving by delivering personalized offers, has announced the appointment of Jeff Sippel to Chief Technology Officer (CTO). edo is the card-linked offer platform for marketers and merchants looking to connect online advertising with in-store results by delivering personalized offers through consumers’ credit, debit cards and mobile devices; bringing unique insight into consumer spending behavior to give marketers more clarity and measurement and consumers instantly redeemable discounts tailored to their shopping habits. Unlike traditional digital and promotional ad offerings, edo delivers a platform that is as easy-to-use for merchants as it is for consumers, no matter how big or small.

Sippel will oversee the strategy, planning and execution of the systems that power edo’s unique card-linked offer platform; bringing more than 15 years’ experience in leading software product development strategy and operations for major global brands, including Orbitz Worldwide.

Prior to joining edo, Sippel served as vice president of engineering and vice president of product strategy at Orbitz Worldwide, where he transformed IT operations and developed long-term strategies for product marketing and distribution. Prior to these roles, Sippel served as the company’s senior director of technology, where he was responsible for the technical strategy and direction of the hotel systems that powered websites such as Orbitz.com, Cheaptickets.com and eBookers.com. He was also one of the initial developers of the Orbitz hotel and private label systems. Previously, Sippel was a technology consultant at Ernst & Young, specializing in Web brand and mobile technologies.

Sippel holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Wisconsin. He earned his MBA from the Northwestern University Kellogg School of Management in Chicago.
