Supply chain-enabler Supply Vision creates web-based technology that gives transportation and logistics providers a better way to collaborate with shippers. With about 800 clients, the company is poised for growth. With a new $1.4 million in a round led by Hyde Park Angels and Invest Illinois Venture Fund, that goal just became a little more likely.

“We are investing in the keys that will build a growth business in our space,” says CEO and founder Mike Powell, who has spent his whole career in the supply chain industry. According to him, the funds will be funneled into building a strong team, delivering and improving Supply Vision’s technology and supporting customer service initiatives.

Spurred by seeing a dearth tech-enabled solutions for his industry, Powell dreamed up a solution. “I saw a need for a supply chain technology provider who could provide logistics companies with cloud-based technology to help them achieve their growth goals,” Powell says. “I started Supply Vision in 2010 to fill the gap I saw in the marketplace—an easy to use cloud-based software backed by the best customer service in the industry.”

Armed with knowledge from his own experiences, Powell built up his team with people such as Amanda Bohl, now VP of Support and Implementation, an industry veteran who brought knowledge, experience and team members from previous posts. “[Bohl’s] team comes with the same stellar credentials and allows us to partner with our customers to help them solve some of the obstacles they currently have to continue to grow their respective businesses,” Powell says.

With a strong team and unique technology, Powell says Supply Vision has enabled many of its clients to streamline shipments without purchasing hardware. Considering most of his users ship for some of the world’s biggest brands, leveraging cloud-based software solutions has proven valuable for companies that truly benefit from added ease and efficiency.

This, again, leads back to Supply Vision’s plans for growth. Powell says it best: “We've made some changes to our team structure a bit to make us more nimble. These changes will allow us to keep innovating and building even more robust cloud-based solutions for our clients. We saw triple digit SaaS revenue growth in 2012 and we are on the same trajectory for 2013.”
