Desiree Vargas Wrigley remembers how she felt when Hurricane Katrina hit. At the time, she was working at the Kaufman Foundation. She and her friends wanted to donate money, but they also wanted to be sure that their donations went directly to those most in need.
The desire to be able to help in this way stuck with her. She figured there had to be a better way for people to donate directly to one another. Over time, she realized she would need to build out such a platform herself to ensure it functioned as she envisioned.
As she moved toward making this platform a reality, she met Ethan Austin, who became her Co-Founder. Together they are building GiveForward, an online fundraising platform that is really starting to make a name for itself helping individuals cover medical expenses. She shares their adventure and how they found their niche – healthcare expenses – below.
