Sappi Fine Paper recently announced the 2014 winners of Ideas that Matter, an annual grant program founded by the global leader in coated paper. Since 1999, Ideas that Matter has funded more than 500 projects, contributing more than $12.5 million toward enhancing lives and communities worldwide. Among this year’s winners is together+, a nonprofit whose mission is to provide education and inspiration to communities through their greatest resource—their children. The organization was founded by 50,000feet Designer Brandon Keelean during his undergraduate days at the University of Notre Dame. Together+ was recognized for their Growing Together project, a children’s story that teaches children about HIV/AIDS and educates them on how to treat those who are infected. In addition to funding the printing of the children’s book in the eleven official languages of South Africa, the award will also support the development of a range of communications for the program’s launch, including posters, teaching guides and character puppets. Established to support designers in using their talents and skills to solve problems for a range of charitable causes, the spirit of Ideas that Matter has never been stronger than in this year’s winners. #ideasthatmatter www.50000feet.com/50knews
