Project Fixup: A Better Approach to Dating

Meeting someone new is supposed to be kind of magical. You see a good looking guy or girl, guess a thing or two about him or her, and strike up a conversation to see if you hit it off. It’s spontaneous, exciting, and new.

In the real world, however, it doesn’t always work like that. People either spend their nights out cruising bars hoping someone normal will approach them or inside spending hours reading messages and crafting responses and ‘vetting’ potential mates that they might not meet in person for weeks or ever.

We created Project Fixup because we think it doesn’t have to be that way. We want to fix up interesting people with one another so they can meet and see if there’s a spark. There are no profiles, messaging, or scheduling.  There’s no risk. Just real people and great dates - from coffee to improv to Summerdance. You can check out our website to learn more at http://projectfixup.com.

Alan and I started working together on this startup idea just a few weeks ago and have been truly touched by the positive feedback and support we’ve received so far from the Chicago entrepreneurship community. We’ve already had over 100 pre-signups, a feature on Thrillist, and dozens of people who have filled out our survey and provided us with useful feedback and ideas.

We’re just getting started and know that our initial concept might change and evolve dozens of times. But we feel like we have the right team and attitude to create a company that can be truly disruptive in the dating space and are excited to make it happen in the greatest city in the world.

To help us get there, we’d love any feedback, questions, criticisms, and ideas you’re game to provide. Drop me a line at [email protected] anytime– I’d love to grab coffee and chat. Should be good times.
