Software Craftsmanship North America 2016

SCNA brings together software developers of all backgrounds and experience levels on October 21-22, 2016, at the Town & Gown Ballroom in Los Angeles, CA, for a full day of inspirational and informative presentations by key figures in the software community.

Software Craftsmanship North America (SCNA) is a conference for software professionals interested in improving their craft, their community, and themselves. After hosting the first five annual conferences in Chicago, SCNA 2016 is celebrating its second consecutive year in Los Angeles. Los Angeles is emerging as an important hub for innovative software professionals that continues to grow every year.

This year’s single-track speaker lineup includes luminary figures in the software craftsmanship community, including Michael Feathers and Uncle Bob Martin, authors of “Working Effectively With Legacy Code,” “Clean Code,” and many more books and articles that have helped shape the software industry.

Rather than focusing on a specific language or technology, SCNA offers conversations and presentations on language-agnostic practices that software developers can apply to their day-to-day work immediately, and that will remain relevant as languages and technologies continue to evolve throughout their careers. With its focus on holistic improvement, SCNA is an important conference for software enthusiasts of all experience levels who are passionate about learning.

SCNA attracts speakers and attendees from all over the world who want to improve their skills and network with like-minded software enthusiasts. The conference offers a continental breakfast in the morning, a complimentary lunch buffet, and a reception for attendees after the day’s final talk. The conference is also hosting a Saturday Day of Code, where conference attendees can choose between three events where they will receive hands-on practice applying many of the disciplines presented in the previous day’s talks.

SCNA is made possible through the support of our hosts, 8th Light and the University of Southern California, and our sponsor, StickerMule. 8th Light is an agile software consultancy with offices in Los Angeles, Chicago, London, New York, and Denver that is passionate about building productive long-term partnerships with their clients, their employees, and the software community. The University of Southern California is one of the world’s leading private research universities that encourages students to cross academic as well as geographic boundaries in their pursuit of knowledge. Sponsors choose SCNA because the conference attracts software professionals who are passionate about improving their skills and advancing their careers.
