Built In Chicago would like to congratulate May’s Startup of the Month: RECSOLU! This technology and services company gives employers SaaS and mobile tools to help them hire the best candidates for their organizations.

RECSOLU was founded in late 2008 when the co-founders, Dan Bartfield and Jason Weingarten, realized some of the country’s largest companies needed tools to help them recruit and capture job candidates from college campuses. They then set out to create a solution that offers a talent base, enterprise software and automated management solutions.

Today, RECSOLU has more than 130 client partners. They were the first recruiting company to build an iOS app, and now they offer four of them. If that’s not enough, Weingarten says his company has doubled revenue every year since launch.

I caught up with Weingarten, President, Global Solutions, to learn more about his company’s story. Read our edited interview here:

How did the idea for this company come about?

JW: Four FORTUNE 250 talent acquisition leaders approached [Bartfield and me] to develop a campus and candidate management solution specific to college recruiting and to replace and automate manual record-keeping processes. These companies not only wanted to improve organizational effectiveness, but also centralize data collection for creating metrics for measuring results and gaining insight into their key talent pipelines.

Why are you tackling recruiting?

JW: Great people build great products and companies, and with the innovation and technology we have introduced, we are enabling employers to more quickly and easily source and hire the qualified, diversified talent they need to support their business growth and success. It is exciting to know the positive and direct impact we have on global hiring and the role we play in the ability for our clients to compete in a global economy and bring to market products and services that benefit us all.

What challenges do you frequently face?

JW: Our primary challenge remains finding enough technical talent to support the innovation pipeline we have developed and the opportunities our more than 125 global clients present us with each day to meet their global talent acquisition needs. We have nearly tripled our workforce in the past year, and yet we have only begun to bring to market the tools and technologies that will forever transform the way employers and job seekers connect.

What are some of the major issues you see in the recruiting process?

JW: [Recruiting] is all about developing relationships, connecting with passive candidates, and building an employer brand, well in advance of posting jobs. Most importantly, it is about having data and metrics to support a recruiting strategy and compete for the best talent pipeline. Companies who are not rethinking recruiting processes and making an investment in organizational effectiveness are becoming disadvantaged in the war for talent.

How can technology solve such problems?

JW: Our clients are able to develop talent communities, provide connectivity across processes and throughout teams, and provide their business partners with unique insight and data for making more informed decisions. Additionally, our mobile applications provide immediate access to dashboards and results to enable more effective planning and execution of sourcing and hiring strategies. Whereas most employers evaluate success at the conclusion of an event, campaign, or plan, RECSOLU provides the tools and resources for evaluating results real-time and for driving success.

What are your goals for the rest of 2013?

JW: We continue to be focused on doubling revenues and again achieving unprecedented business growth and client satisfaction. Additionally, we are also doubling our investment in innovation and seeking to add as many as 40 new professionals to our development and services teams. Lastly, we will be launching 3 new products and applications that we know will further transform recruiting and support the hiring of 100,000 (4x) students and professionals globally.
