Friend of a Friend (aka FOAF) is an online community in which friends and the friends of those friends can meet a match or introduce others without the awkwardness of blind dates or set-ups and without the typical online dating site algorithms that set people up with complete strangers.  We believe there is something important that is missing on the web -- and our aim is to fill that void. The internet has connected the world but has left us to interacting without our safe, trusted community of friends -- going it alone, as it were, in dating or even beyond. Our goal is to be the social version of LinkedIn. In the same way we can connect with others for business and career networking on LinkedIn, we should be able to do that for a variety of reasons - dating and matchmaking included - through our personal relationships.  Currently, we are getting ready to launch our first site which is aimed at matchmaking ("Fixers") who might not be single but who have friends who are. And, of course, single people ("Mixers") who are looking for an alternative to dating strangers online. We think the best and the most successful way to meet new people (FOAFs) is through those people we already know and trust.  68% of lasting couples report meeting this way, so when you're asked, "How did you two meet?" you can answer, "Through the Friend of a Friend."
