ChariPick wants to cherry pick nonprofits for you to donate to every day

According to a recent study, the average human now has a shorter attention span than a goldfish.

That might have a lot to do with the fact that humans have become increasingly more hungry for instant gratification. And if you can harness the happiness that comes from instant gratification to the happiness that comes with, say, doing something good for society, you might just have a recipe for success.

Entrepreneur Stephen Lee is taking that idea and sprinting with it.

Introducing ChariPick, a new mobile platform that makes it easier to discover and donate to charities and nonprofits. Users can donate between $1 and $10 a day to any of the charities listed in ChariPick’s database (which currently boasts over 100).

The idea is that making it easier to donate to charities will make users happier. By doing good for the world by donating to a cause (and by offering an easy-to-use platform to do so), users will be more likely to return to the service and make donations on a regular basis.

“If donating as well as receiving makes people happier, better off, ChariPick could be a conduit for positive change, on a daily basis,” Lee said in a statement.

Registered users can use the app to uncover lesser-known charities from one of three cause-centered cores: Health & Education, Animals & Environment, and Human Rights & Services.

After choosing a focus, ChariPick recommends three nonprofits a day that users can choose to donate to. As time lapses, ChariPick’s algorithm becomes more personalized, suggesting specific organizations based on your preferences and history.

All of ChariPick’s charities are IRS-registered organizations in the US. After donating, users get briefs on how their donations have made an impact. At the end of the year, users receive a record of all  charitable donations made to one of the app’s nonprofits for tax write-offs.

ChariPick launched earlier this month and is available for free for both iOS and Android.
