Inventables kicks off October by raking in a $5M Series B

Inventables, a Chicago-based digital manufacturing innovator that provides 3D carving platforms like Carvey and XCarve 3D, announced Tuesday that the company has raked in a $5 million Series B. The funding, led by New York- and Los Angeles-based venture capital fund Greycroft, will be used to bring their 3D carving software and hardware technology to over one million users. IBM announces acquisition deal to snag Chicago’s Cleversafe

Chicago-based Cleversafe, a developer of object storage technology, was acquired this week by IBM. Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but the deal is on schedule to close later this year. Launched in 2004, Cleversafe has grown into a standard player in the Chicago tech-scene. IBM will integrate Cleversafe’s storage software into the company’s cloud storage software into IBM’s cloud business — a move to augment IBM clients’ grips on cloud storage capabilities. TableSavvy brings big name advisors to the table

TableSavvy, a real-time, last minute dining reservation system announced this week that it has organized a board of strategic advisors whose expertise will help the company expand. The board includes some heavyweight tech veterans, including Yahoo’s founding VP of Marketing and Sales Randy Haykin and Belly’s co-founders and former product lead Ryan Jeffery, Arman Ghosh, and Dave Arel.

Brideside announces $1.5M seed round, exclusive line with designer Kelly Faetanini

Brideside announced it has landed a $1.5 million seed round from strategic investors like Trunk Club’s Rob Chesney and Sittercity’s Genevieve Thiers. DreamIt Ventures also participated with a follow-on investment. The company will use that funding to grow their team and expand their collection.
