Hey Chicago entrepreneurs: 'Shark Tank' wants to hear your pitches

Hey Chicago entrepreneurs: next Monday night may just be the big break you’ve been looking for.

ABC’s “Shark Tank” is heading to Chicago next week, hungry for innovative pitches from entrepreneurs looking to land a spot of the hit TV show.

The show, which is already in its eighth season, is the brainchild of Mark Burnett — the reality show king who also brought cultural phenomena like “Survivor” and “The Voice” to your living room TV screen.

Chicago tech companies have been represented more than once on the show throughout the years, including Packback, LuminAid, Spikeball and Rent Like a Champion, which was featured just last October. Other, quirkier ambassadors of local innovation have also appeared on the show, including Dude Wipes and I Want To Draw A Cat For You, who both had the chance to show off their personalities on-air (and walked away with deals, too).

Returning investors include crowd favorites like Mark Cuban, Barbara Corcoran, Daymond John, Lori Greiner, Robert Herjavec and Kevin “Mr. Wonderful” O'Leary.

According to the Blue Sky Innovation, producers will hold an open casting call on Monday at Studio Xfinity on Chicago’s Near North Side. That’s in addition to a closed-door event being held Tuesday at the University of Chicago.

Pitches at the open casting call begin at 10 a.m.
