Chicago, IL, May 9, 2012: Brad Feld is setting a challenge – he wants people to match his $145,000 donation promise. Brad is running 29 marathons in the next few years and he has decided to dedicate those 29 marathons to 29 families on GiveForward. He has promised $5,000 to each fundraiser and has challenged others to match his generosity.
Brad Feld is no stranger to challenges. An early stage investor and entrepreneur for over 20 years, Brad co-founded TechStars, is a partner at venture capital firm Foundry Group, has served on numerous boards of directors and is active with several non-profits. Originally, Brad set a goal for himself – 50 marathons by age 50. But after seeing the impact of cancer first hand when his good friend battled testicular cancer Brad decided that he wanted those marathons to have a bigger impact. That was when he joined forces with GiveForward to raise money on behalf of 29 families in need.
GiveForward is a crowdfunding site dedicated to providing families with financial and emotional support during a time of need. Since 2008 GiveForward has helped raise over $14 million in donations to cover out-of-pocket medical expenses like co-pays, prescription costs and travel to treatment.
Want to see the impact? The first fundraising drive has already started. Brad is challenging others to meet his $5,000 donation to Justin Salcedo from Devine, TX who has testicular cancer. The goal is to raise $10,000 total ($5,000 from Brad, $5,000 from others) by May 31st.
