Bacon, Sports, and Beer. Yep, that's how we roll

So we are presenting at the Built in Chicago Launch next Thursday and it was suggested that we do a blog post about our company. I run Bacon Sports and we are building the awesomest sports media company ever. Now that we've got that out of the way how about I share a bit of what is on my mind.

In 38 days we are throwing the greatest 2000 person Bacon, Sports & Beer Celebration that Chicago has ever seen. There are a few reasons why we are throwing the Celebration.

1. A sports blog is not a business. It is a hobby unless you can bring in revenue. BaconSports.com started off as a sports blog but we had greater aspirations for it. In order to be able to realize our full potential we knew that we had to do something other than just chase page views. I've sold online advertising for the last 8 years so I know how that goes (no thanks). That's where the Bacon, Sports & Beer Celebration came in. With Bacon and Sports already in our name it made perfect sense to add beer to what we do and BOOM! the hat trick of awesomeness was created.

2. I didn't quit my well paying sales job so that I could go a year without getting a paycheck. I did it because I wanted to change my life and have fun. Yes, have fun. If you don't enjoy what you are doing every day then something is missing. I want to live every day like it's a Girl Talk concert. If you don't know what that is then look it up. As cliche as it sounds, you only live once, so I'm going down on my terms and having a blast! What better way to spend life than writing about sports, helping people achieve their dreams, and trying to sell a party where the main ingredients are bacon, sports, beer, and fun. Yes please!

3. The Celebration will be a great opportunity to say "hello world" to everyone in Chicago. Getting revenue positive while also increasing our exposure at the same time. I'll take that.

I've never thrown a 2000 person celebration at Union Station before so this is all new to me. However, that fire that burns inside of me has never been brighter and if need be I could find a way to get to the moon to get some sweet moon rocks for the event. That's the great thing about being an entrepreneur. You don't have all the answers all the time but you've got an insatiable hunger inside of you and if you want it bad enough you'll figure out a way to make it happen.

Now excuse me while I go and look up how to get pop a shot hoops to our celebration.

BOOMSHAKALAKA!
