CareTree - Chicago Lean Startup Challenge 2012

CareTree is a collaboration platform designed to replace the paper records in the home health and senior care industries with an online platform that centralizes information and automates communication with care stakeholders.

Top 10 things we learned as part of the Chicago Lean Startup Challenge (in no particular order):

  1. Get out and interview the customers
  2. Ask tough questions to try and find out what is wrong with your idea – not just what you want to hear
  3. Be open to change
  4. It’s a lot more work than you think
  5. It’s good even for seasoned entrepreneurs
  6. Your fellow challengers are a great resource, not just competitors
  7. Video your in-person interviews (good to remember and useful footage for your video at the end)
  8. Have a good programmer with time they can dedicate – there is a lot to be done
  9. Stay caught up and document as you do it
  10. You can do a lot more in a short time period than you expect
