The Fast Pitch Competition
On Thursday, November 17, SeedCon11 will host its first entrepreneurship fast-pitch competition, organized in partnership with Built in Chicago. It is open to anyone – just bring your team and your best ideas.

Chicago Booth faculty and EVC co-chairs will select the top 8 applicants to participate in a judged competition onstage on Thursday night, between addresses by Matt Moog, CEO of Viewpoints, and Steve Kaplan, Neubauer Family Distinguished Service Professor of Entrepreneurship and Finance. Winners will receive over $50,000 in start-up friendly services to kick-start their business.
The Conference
The conference portion will be held on Friday, November 18 and will feature a fantastic speaker lineup:
- Keynote: Brad Burnham, from Union Square Ventures, a leading venture capital firm that has backed companies such high growth companies as Twitter, Zynga, FourSquare, Tumblr, KickStarter.
- Entrepreneurs: Major Chicago startup founders like Chuck Templeton (OpenTable), Bryan Johnson (Braintree), Bob Gillespie (InContext Solutions), and more will cover topics like “What a Non-Technical Co-Founder Should Bring to the Table.”
- Venture Capitalists: VCs Lon Chow (Apex Ventures), Jim Dugan (OCA Ventures), and members of Hyde Park Angels will discuss the changing landscape of startup funding.
- Technology: John Tolva (CTO of the city of Chicago), and Mike Sands (CEO of BrightTag) among others will be discussing the rise and future of Big Data.
