We’re hiring for our first full-time and lead full-stack developer.  There could be many titles for this role, from Senior Full-stack Developer to Senior Tech Lead to CTO depending on experience.

Villageworks is the world's first unified child and community management platform for parents, school districts/teachers, and activity providers.  By aggregating and consolidating all child-related information, communications, contacts, calendars and transactions into one mobile app and web portal, Villageworks keeps each child's entire community united, safe, organized and engaged.  Our users include parents and others invested in managing and raising children within each community. We have users on our attendance tracking platform and are signing up new school districts and organizations daily.  

About the Role

You will be responsible for all aspects of development and support for internally created or supported application software, including development methodologies, technologies (language, databases, support tools, etc), development and testing hardware/software environments, and management of the development team. Your job is to manage projects and manage a set of engineers. You are responsible for not only leading development but also making your team happy and productive, while helping them manage their careers. Ultimately, you are responsible for delivering great product on time and with quality.  

You should expect:

• Hands on software development, where you can apply your skills, knowledge and experience.

• Supervision of the projects and responsibilities of the developers.

• Responsible for the prioritization of projects assigned to the development team.

• Responsible for the complete development lifecycle, including gathering requirements, database management, software development, testing, and implementation.

• We believe to be a great developer you need to understand your users, so you should also expect to get involved with user follow up and support periodically.

• Responsible for the integrity, maintenance and changes to the development servers and databases.

• Responsible for developing and implementing change control processes for the development team to follow.

• Providing ad-hoc reporting and decision support required for management decision processes.

• Making technology decisions that affect software development.
  
  

Technology Expertise:

As the tech lead, we will look for you to define the tech stack best suited for the platform being developed.  However, we expect that your expertise would include some or all of the following:

• Python, J-node, Java, Spring, Hibernate, Laravel

• MySQL, MongoDB, Amazon RedShift, Hadoop

• Javascript, Angular.js, Bootstrap

• HTML5, CSS/Saas, Github

• AWS cloud infrastructure

Qualifications:

• 5-10 years of web and mobile application development experience required.

• 5+ years of database design and analysis required.

• Bachelor’s degree in information science or computer science strongly preferred.

• Strong verbal communication skills required.
