As Aeris continues to expand, we are growing our Cloud Infrastructure team in our Chicago, IL office. That's where you come in! As our Cloud Systems Engineer, you are our technical lead for virtual servers, storage, hybrid cloud services, solution deployment and integration for the hybrid cloud infrastructure.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • You will participate and help plan, design, develop and implement our server and cloud infrastructure for large scale, production quality services
  • You will install, configure, and maintain server hardware & software at multiple sites
  • You ensure that standard methodologies are fully utilized in deploying physical and virtual servers, O/S and application patches/updates
  • You will help design efficiencies through automation of routine tasks and increased systems deployment
  • You will analyze and deliver system performance metrics as needed
  • As our technical lead, you will perform multi-functional training to other engineering disciplines
  • You will lead the day-to-day operations management of production and development servers for critical M2M environment, as well as perform auditing and documentation of the environment on a regular basis
  • You will provide advanced client support as required within a 24/7 environment and implement data lifecycle requirements with backup and recovery support
What we look for in you:

  • You have a Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years’ work experience in a Server/Storage Engineering capacity
  • You have strong hands-on experience working with public cloud infrastructure and with virtual networking and private cloud technologies
  • You are a self-starter, assertive, well organized, and have precise attention to detail as well as excellent verbal and written communication and documentation skills
  • You are an expert at effectively prioritizing and executing tasks and projects to completion in a high-pressure environment
  • You have direct experience working on multi-site and/or data center connectivity for HA/DR applications
  • You enjoy problem-solving and have a strong ability to be analytical and investigative in order to compile detailed problem and solution specifications
  • You are well-versed with using scripting languages such as Perl, Python, or Bash
  • You enjoy working in a collaborative environment - leading/working with our global teams
  • You possess a solid understanding of standard networking protocols (DNS, DHCP, LDAP, PXE, SMTP, NTP)
  • You have multiple OS administration experience under your belt - Solaris, Red Hat, Ubuntu, Windows, etc.
  • You've got solid understanding and previous experience with enterprise SAN storage and connectivity (RAID, FC, iSCSI, and NFS)
  • You are experienced with Sun/Oracle/HP/Cisco/EMC server and storage hardware platforms
  • You have experience with platform and application monitoring tools such as SolarWinds, Big Brother and Zabbix
What will set you apart:

  • You have your AWS and Virtualization Certifications
  • You previously worked with Container technologies such as Docker
  • You have hands-on experience with NetBackup and OpenStack
  • You are knowledgeable of Kickstart/Nagios/Puppet/UCS Blade servers a PLUS
