KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
As a Data Architect at ShopRunner you would expect on a day to day basis work on items such as:
- Define analytical SQL schemas for new data driven products, such as historical product pricing and availability, large scale user event streams and member activities.
- Optimize SQL, XML or JSON schemas / formats for query and storage performance against RedShift, S3, Spark and other data stores.
- Define, assess or optimize reporting and visualization tools
- Work with the data engineering team to define, implement and improve our data pipeline and ETL processes.
- Work with the data science team to come up with novel ways of presenting data for analysis.
- Document and enhance data quality processes.
- Be available to assist the analytics team with data access
- Define and deploy tooling to support our data platform
- Organize training and instruction on new tool usage
HELPFUL SKILLS:
You will likely be most successful in this role if you have:
- Experience with petabyte+ MPP databases in mission critical data warehousing roles.
- Experience with the Hadoop ecosystem
- Experience with streaming systems like Spark, Flink or Storm
- Experience with data storage schemas like Avro, Parquet or Thrift
- Experience with the public cloud and specifically Amazon AWS
- Experience with commercial and open source modeling and data transformation tools
- Experience with data analysis and visualization tools such as Business Objects, MicroStrategy or Tableau. Looker experience would be a huge plus
- Formal training with data-warehousing and modeling
- Experience describing the business value of data being analyzed as well as experience extracting the underlying business drivers behind specific data requests
- Enjoy working with cross-functional teams
- Formal education in Computer Science
