We know that in order to derive value from data it needs to be clean (or as clean as data can be, anyway). ParkWhiz is looking to bring on a Data Engineer to help drive this effort. Reporting into the VP of Engineering, this person will take ownership of the completeness, correctness, and optimal format of data in our data warehouse in order to support data analysis and storytelling efforts.
What you'll tackle:
- Design new enterprise data models and ETL processes to populate them
- Assess and optimize current data environment
- Become the “go to” and expert around data. Work closely with staff to understand all data from our core systems, partner services, and any other platforms we rely on
- Extract and transform data from product databases and 3rd party services to provide consumable data and support functions across the organization
- Detect quality issues, track them to their root source, and implement fixes and preventative audits
- Manage and optimize Redshift clusters to ensure current health and performance and future scaling needs
- Experience with AWS; expertise in Redshift, Postgres or other RDBSs
- Ability to write customer software with Ruby, Python, Perl or other common open source languages
- You can efficiently and effectively design data models and structures
- Creativity in approaching data organization challenges with an understanding of the end goal
- Expertise in SQL and ability to write and optimize complex queries
- Strong interest in MapReduce, machine learning, predicative analysis, or other advanced data topics
- A collaborative nature and entrepreneurial spirit. Prior startup experience a huge plus
