We are looking for a Data Engineer Team Lead to help us dramatically expand and improve our data products and capabilities. We have been extremely picky about assembling a team of smart, humble people who are passionate about creating amazing technology. Now, as we push our development culture to be ever more experimentation focused, we need you and your team to build the toolset enable teams to make data-informed decisions.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead an engineering team focused on the building full-stack solutions, including front-end tools, data warehouse, analytics and reports. And you will be working closely with other Engineering Teams working in Java, AngularJS, MySQL, Git, etc.
Collaborate with leaders across the business to understand their needs and create software that enables data informed decisions. Ultimately, you will understand as much about the business problems as the technical solutions.
Design and implement large ETL applications as well as data warehouse architecture and development. Our ETL environment is in Python, so you’ll be writing object oriented code to move data around. And you will ensure that major architectural decisions are documented properly, though possibly in a just-in-time manner.
You will be responsible for the health and welfare of the data environment and services, and you will be working closely with peers who are shifting our development culture to an experimentation mindset.
Possibly hire, manage, and train a team of reports, based on your interest and prior experience.
REQUIREMENTS:
BA, BS in Computer Science, Mathematics, or IT. Master’s degree preferred.
7+ years of data development experience with SQL, and ample experience with ETL, Data Modeling, Data Warehousing.
Front-end web development skills, including Javascript, AngularJS, jQuery, and d3.js
Experience writing object oriented code in a popular language, Java and/or Python preferred.
Expertise in SQL.
Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS)
Strong communication skills required
Experience working in Agile (Scrum/XP) environments
Statistical Programming / visualization experience (optional)
2+ years of people management experience (optional)
