Title: DevOps and Automation Engineer

Optiver's DevOps and Automation Engineers create highly-functional tools and instrumentation to support the needs and processes of IT, development, and trading teams.  If you are an engineer who enjoys a blend of being strategic and hands-on, this is the role for you. As a member of our DevOps team, you will have a balance of targeted projects building systems used across IT and troubleshooting for individual teams and challenges. This makes for an exciting mix of IT engineering across the stack, paired with the aggressive pace of a highly competitive trading firm. You will gain a deep knowledge of the operational requirements that support our infrastructure and trading systems, all of which is critical for moving our trading business forward.

What you'll do:
• Build monitoring and configuration management tools and dashboards/instrumentation
• Develop simple, elegant, and maintainable designs
• Automate trading application and infrastructure deployments 
• Integrate OS build tools like Ansible into surrounding network and server management systems
• Code against a variety of data sources inclusive of xml, json, sql, svn, and application logs
• Serve as a full stack engineer for Django web frontends and REST APIs used by IT, development, and trading
• Gather and report metrics used to maintain and improve the performance and efficiency of trading systems
• Work in tandem with operations and development to ensure the health of the production trading environment
• Continually drive production systems toward cleanliness, simplicity, and reliability
• Track and solve issues as part of a fast-paced results driven set of IT teams

What you'll need:
• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent expertise
• 3+ years IT engineering/support experience
• Excellent software design and development skills, preferably with Python
• Excellent understanding of operating systems, preferably Redhat Linux and Windows
• Strong SQL and database administration skills
• Strong understanding of network architectures and switch APIs
• Knowledge of trading exchanges and financial instruments is a plus
