Job Description
 

Cars.com is looking for a detail oriented Site Analyst to assist in growing and supporting the website and its core products. This is an exciting opportunity to be a key influencer to our major product teams, provide them with the data and insights at key junctures and uncovering unknown problems. The Site Analyst will play a key role in delivering new reporting, analysis and solutions that anticipate the growing needs of the business. They will be a partner to the Product team and will also work with other Analysts in a centralized environment that encourages collaboration and development. The ideal candidate will have working knowledge of different reporting and analytics tools but will understand that story telling is as important, and will focus their efforts in providing not only the data but the story.

The ideal candidate will have working-knowledge of different reporting and analytics tools but will understand that storytelling is as important, and will focus their efforts in providing not only the data but also the interpretation and the opportunity.

This individual will be required to:

  • Create and maintain the daily, weekly and monthly dashboards using a range of tools like Business Objects, Adobe, Tableau. Deliver them to a wide-range of colleagues, including senior management. This responsibility includes the analysis of each report and requires that the Site Analyst be able to clearly communicate the key takeaways of each report to a broad audience
  • Support at least one agile product team as their dedicated analyst; participating in pre and post-release analysis, dashboard development and A/B and/or multivariate testing
  • Compile data across various sources, both internal and external, for special and ad-hoc analysis. Use advanced analytics tools and methods for those projects
  • Evaluate business initiatives and identify opportunities for product optimization
  • Work together with team members towards creating a 360 degree view of our consumers
  • Make decisions, often independent of a supervisor’s guidance
  • Must have the ability to define and solve problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions in a wide variety of situations
  • Prioritize effectively for self, time management
  • Carryout special projects while fulfilling core duties
  • Become an expert in Cars.com’s web analytics tool-sets and assisting in training sessions across departments
  • Periodically review the implementations of Cars.com’s web analytics tool-sets for possible enhancement opportunities 
 
Required Skills
 

  • College degree
  • Excellent written communication

  • A curious mind with a thirst for discovery and answers
  • Creative problem-solving skills, with an ability to anticipate problems
  • This role requires proof of solid analytical skills. We are looking for a very aggressive candidate who seeks out areas of improvement and follows through with concise project management

  • Superb time management/prioritization and attention to detail with continual focus on meeting deadlines in a fast-paced changing environment

  • Ability to organize and analyze large sets of data
  • Ability to stand alone and deal with ambiguity
  • Highly organized, with an ability to balance and prioritize multiple tasks
  • Highly adaptable to learning new processes and technology

 
 
Required Experience
 

  • At least 2 years in a position dealing with data, reporting and analysis
  • Online experience highly desired, if not: candidate should have an interest in web businesses, technologies and website optimization
  • Automotive experience and/or automotive passion a plus
  • Proficient with MS Office suite, advanced user of Excel
  • Experience with web analytics tools (Google Analytics, Omniture, WebTrends, etc.) a must
  • Experience with visualization and reporting tools  (Business Objects, Cognos, Tableau, etc.) a must
  • Experience with advanced analytics tools ( R ), data manipulation tools (SQL, Python) or visualization tools (Tableau ) a plus
