About The Position

Raise is looking for Director of Data Management to be part of our Engineering Team. As a Director of Data Management, you will be part of the core team that is responsible for enhancing overall company performance as it applies data management, business intelligence and data innovation. The position will focus on defining a business-wide information technology Data Management strategy and driving the execution of that strategy to deliver solutions that enable prioritized business objectives. The individual will be a thought leader in critical aspects of information technology and must have the ability to influence senior leadership.

This position reports to the VP of Engineering and is responsible for providing visibility into the performance and success of their team. This requires a unique balance of technology leadership and data sense—so the ideal candidate will have experience building substantial data platforms. In addition to this technical leadership, this role also has full managerial authority over a cross-functional group of data engineers.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical and non-technical guidance to the team, both individually and as a group.
  • Recruit and hire exceptional engineering talent and facilitate onboarding of new team members
  • Guide, mentor, manage and develop a high-performance team
  • Lead the development of the enterprise data architecture, including database design and structure, real-time data integration and database tools to deliver top-notch data management to the organization
  • Oversee the development and use of organization standards for data definitions, data management, warehouse design and development
  • Develop, administer, maintain, and implement data governance policies and procedures for ensuring the security, quality, integrity and availability of the company's data
  • Lead the architecture and development of a data warehouse strategy to provide consistent, relevant, clean and integrated data
  • Provide strong domain-based experience with toolsets to help get the most from current and next-generation data technologies
  • Lead the migration to new data technologies for structured, unstructured, streaming and high volume data
  • Provide overall accountability for all aspects of team delivery
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, product management, and engineers to ensure that solutions meet business needs
  • Communicate status, risks and requirements to other groups
  • Facilitate continuous learning and improvement for the team and its members

Skills & Qualifications

  • Proficiency in SQL queries and relational databases
  • Knowledge of cloud technologies such as AWS, EC2, RDS, Kinesis, S3 and next generation data platforms
  • 10+ years experience in data management, data strategy, data integration and business intelligence
  • Knowledge of OLTP, data warehouses, data model design and implementation
  • 4+ years experience managing a collaborative team of at least 4
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent collaborative skills
  • BA/BS degree or above in Computer Science or related field of study or equivalent experience
