The engineering team plays a critical role at Inventables. In owing the full stack platform—hardware and software—our engineers are rethinking and removing the old obstacles to digital fabrication. Traditionally, computer-aided machining has required specialized knowledge and skills: the ability to operate complex machines, understanding of material science and end mill properties, and mastery of arcane parlance (“pockets” vs. “profiles”) and rules (“climb” vs. “conventional” milling). We believe that everyone has creative ideas, and that through innovative hardware and software, we can all design and create beautiful things.

We are building the easiest-to-use 3D carving platform in the world -- including both the machines and the front-end software customers use to control them. We are taking a technology formerly reserved for highly-trained engineers and technicians in multi-million-dollar manufacturing labs and making it accessible to students, teachers, small businesses, hobbyists, and crafters.

As a Firmware Engineer, you'll play a crucial role in helping our platform bring out the maker in everyone. Your code will unleash the capabilities of our machines, and enable machines with new capabilities in the future. Your code will make sure that our hardware and software are in perfect sync during the carving process. Your code will help simplify the CNC process by giving users more immediate feedback and control, while protecting them from common mistakes. You'll have a real impact -- the code you write will be used by thousands of people every day.

As a Firmware Engineer, you'll experiment, prototype, and explore new ideas. You'll work closely with both hardware and software engineers to understand our customers' needs and our products' capabilities, and to design the next generation of our machines and software. And you'll have the opportunity to help build a firmware team at a growing company that's building a complete platform.
